The Beginning of Autumn
Amanda Chavez — La Cueva High School
angelface806@msn.com

In the early morning of an autumn day, the fragrance of freshly baked apple pie fills the air all through the house. The cool autumn air passes my skin, giving my body a chill. The leaves crackling on the ground as people walk on them. I knew that it really was the beginning of autumn.

Review: Dear Amanda—

great description throughout. what you’ve done is get at typical sensory information associated with fall. wonderful use of the senses and i like the long leisurely lines and pacing. one thing i might think about is finding the aspects of the season that are not so typical and yet still evoke the season. the question i might ask myself next time around is how can i find those details that are not expected and use those to surprise my reader…good work.
