Letter from the Director

Alex Traube, Executive Director of New Mexico CultureNet Dear Friends & Colleagues- PASSWORD:

Each year New Mexico CultureNet hires a few new poets to join our excellent team. In the coming school year, we hope to expand our Poets-in-the-Schools program to more schools across the state. Last year we had programs in Lovington, Shiprock, Farmington, Pecos, Bernalillo, Pojoaque, Española, and Santa Fe.

I would like to hear from poets, particularly from southern New Mexico, who might be interested in working with us. Please email me, alex@nmculturenet.org (no phone calls, please) and attach 3-5 poems and a resume. Also this fall, CultureNet will launch a poetry website focusing on teens. If you have ideas for the site, please let me know. We've been meeting with various groups, including students, to determine what should be featured on the site. It will be interactive, ever changing and fun.

Speaking of websites, the Santa Fe Arts & Culture Portal that CultureNet developed for the City of Santa Fe is going great guns. It's an excellent resource for Cultural events, classifieds, electronic ticketing, etc. If you've not visited it lately, check it out: http://www.santafeculture.org. And if you want to list calendar events that take place outside of Santa Fe, use the CultureNet statewide calendar: http://www.nmculturenet.org/calendar.

What are you reading this summer? Let me hear from you, so I can post a list next month.

Cheers,

-Alex
